Transitions

If you currently use one of the older legacy products like Perfect Balance, DCS Interact, Locus or OpenPractice, we work with you and the LEAP technologists to ensure a smooth conversion of your historical client and matter data into LEAP. This process improves your data asit is “normalised” to be useful for document production as well as purely accounting purposes.

A range of conversion options are available to suit your needs for access to historical data as well as any budgetary limitations.

Convert from PB

LEAP has supported Perfect Balance since the old Solution 6 business was split up four years ago and LEAP agreed to take over the support of the Perfect Balance clients. This process has worked well and hundreds of Perfect Balance clients have been able to continue to use Perfect Balance as they have progressively converted to LEAP Accounting. Most Perfect Balance clients have now made the Transition.

The LEAP Conversion Team will convert your data. There are three conversion options:-

FreshStart: Client and Matter name and address and matter type details are converted.

QuickStart: Client and Matter name and address, matter type details and the contents of your Safe Custody Register are converted.

Transactions: in addition to the QuickStart data a full client and matter transaction history is converted including live transactions for unbilled WIP and unbilled Disbursements.

Convert from Locus

We are often asked by law firms using Locus if LEAP can preserve their existing data and convert it into more useful forms for use in Documents and Accounting.

To cope with the demand the LEAP Conversion Team has refined and simplified the conversion of data from Locus to make it easy for you to make the change.

LEAP provides the following standard Locus Transition Options:-

FreshStart from Locus: if your Locus data is old and out of date, this is an excellent way for you to

start with new accounting data. We convert your client and matter details, and you then start fresh

with clean and reliable balances.

QuickStart from Locus: This is an extended version of FreshStart that includes items in the Safe Custody Register.

Transactions from Locus: as the name implies this option includes the conversion of financial transactions and balances as well. Whatever your requirements, we have a quick and affordable way of preserving your firm’s investment in its existing data and moving you quickly and efficiently to a new LEAP platform.

Convert from others

Whether you use KG2000, Open Practice, Locus Affinity, PCLaw or any of the other legacy accounting systems, the LEAP Conversion Team will probably be able to arrange an appropriate form of conversion for you.

Using the LEAP GIF (Generic Import Format) you data will be programmatically organised for conversion into LEAP data. Possible Options include:-

FreshStart: Client and Matter name and address and matter type details are converted.

QuickStart: Client and Matter name and address, matter type details and the contents of your Safe Custody Register are converted.
